R -
Great idea for a site. I love the idea of breaking the stories out by genre. How user friendly for readers. One thing I kinda get stuck on is the difference between AH/AR when GH history is used as a launching pad, but the writer totally "flips the script" so to speak. I was over at Amanda's Safe Place Awards site and saw this definition of AR/AU "Alternative universe fiction writers like to explore the possibilities of pivotal changes made to characters' history, motivations or environment". So would your preference be to label any story that starts with GH history AH or does it depend how "off track" it ends up? Sorry if that's confusing. Thanks, Riley |

Riley,
Great question. I'm not going to make hard and fast rules dictating that "if X% of a story is canon then it belongs here as opposed to there". If you as a writer feel your story can be placed in both categories, then by all means list your story in both categories. These categories listings are only guides and I feel it would help the readers find the story if its listed in whatever (or however many categories) it might fit. So if your story is a GH based story, but would also fit say... a Holiday themed story genre, then put it in both categories. Also feel free to make any author's notes you feel necessary to explain why a story fits a certain theme. I hope this helps. R ETA: After I reread your question, I don't know if I answered it. lol Basically it's up to you and where you feel your story is best listed. If you want to put it in both the AH listings and the AU listings, I have no problem with that.

I made a mistake in posting my story in the AH section. It's called Second Chances and I accidentially made it have its own thread rather than adding it to
the reply area of the correct year. I have now done that but am unable to delete the original error. Can you please help me? Thank you in advance.

Not a question or a suggestion, but thanks, R, for deleting my posts here. :-D I'm going to organize everything into ONE post and post it in each of the
applicable categories after I make the SEMMFF thing public. That will be at LEAST 70 new fics, so, yeah. :-P
Thankies!! |
